Twitter grows by 83%

Newly released figures by Comscore Media Metrix shows that www.twitter.com has seen a huge jump in monthly visitor traffic to 17 million U.S. visitors for the month of April. This represents an 83% increase over March and a 3,000 percent gain over a year ago.
There has been a lot of media hype around Twitter which is contributing to this surge. Also, stars like Opra Winfrey discovering the 140 character moment has attracted a lot of visitors.
Whether the current momentum can be sustained or is just a fad is hard to determine at the point. But for the time being the trial tweeters are having some fun.
